2 Weeks on the Road, and boy did I get run over....
or how I spent my summer (non)vacation
Just back from 2 weeks at the Democratic National Convention and have resolved to try and make a log of the upcoming madness as a way to vent, if nothing else. Not yet blog proficient, but hopefully that will change. This little column will contain various and sundry rants, comments, maybe some pictures, a couple of links here and there, and it is all going to be strictly editorial. All comments are totally my responsibility and are not a reflection of any one else's views.
So a medium sized media outlet covers the Democratic National Convention and I helped. I have no idea what this coverage cost, accounting is not my expertise, but at $459 for a locking pedestal cabinet for 2 weeks, I've decided that I may be in the wrong business (if I were a greedy pig.) Since I'm only a moderately greedy pig, I think I'll continue to do what I've done all my adult life (except for that one restaurant gig, oh, and that time I was a surveyor) and get paid ridiculous amounts of money for lifting heavy objects, exposing my ears to horribly noisy and loud environments, and getting to go to strange and exotic places like Cleveland several times a year to lift heavy objects and try to find interesting (according to whomever the latest, greatest ego I'm working with) sound. Yeah, sound. There's this whole underbelly to the media industry that provides people with an honest living just for being able to read and understand technical manuals and hook wires (similar to the ones you've got stringing your stereo together) together to enable people who are not at an event to be able to hear things from that event. It's a really obscure branch of media and we tend to be regarded similar to those A/V nerds you knew in High School, until of course something doesn't work. Then you are really important to have on hand to scapegoat after the person who has that vein throbbing in the middle of their forehead finishes screaming at you because you gave them what they asked for instead of what they needed.
Sorry for getting pulled off subject like that....uhhh....oh, yeah. So coming up for our coverage of the Republican National Convention I'll probably give a rehash of old news and some thoughts on the upcoming process that the Republicans are getting ready to bestow on the world. Keep tuned for further, official information.
